Shanghai has been given an A rating in the State Council’s 2019 quality work appraisal, authorities said on Wednesday.

The quality competitiveness index of Shanghai's manufacturing industry reached 95.78 points last year, ranking No. 1 in China for the 11th consecutive year.

Nearly 97 percent of manufactured products passed quality tests in the city last year, 2.98 percentage points above the national average, according to the Shanghai Administration for Market Regulation.

Policies to raise quality in sectors such as manufacturing, services, agriculture, construction,tourism, senior care, health, and greenery and public sanitation had been issued by city authorities, and 16 districts had released action plans to improve quality.

More than 50 industry organizations in the city conducted quality improvement plans in biomedicine, integrated circuits, new materials, robots, software and information services.

More than 2,000 promotion activities on quality were conducted in the city in the recent three years with more than 10,000 companies in attendance.

The city has 441 organizations and 182 individuals winning quality awards at national, city and district levels so far, covering areas such as advanced manufacturing, modern services, public transport and medical treatment.
