A film exhibition paying tribute to the People's Volunteer Army of China, which participated in the Korean War (1950-53), opened on Monday at Caoyang Cinema.

Organized by the Shanghai Film Distribution and Exhibition Association, the exhibition will present 17 screenings of seven movies at 10 local cinemas such as Grand Cinema and Cathay Theater through October 28.

Among the films are “Battle on Shangganling Mountain” (1956), “Guards on the Railway Line” (1960), “Heroic Breed” (1964) and “Assembly” (2006). They portray the bravery and solidarity of Chinese soldiers and have influenced generations of viewers.

Some of the old movies have been digitally restored for better image and sound quality.
