7 imported COVID-19 cases reported in Shanghai

The city reported seven new imported coronavirus cases on Wednesday, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Thursday morning.

The first patient is a Chinese working in the United Arab Emirates who arrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on September 21.

The second is a Chinese working in Turkey who arrived at the Shanghai airport on September 25.

The third is a Chinese travelling in Canada who arrived at the Shanghai airport on September 28.

The fourth to the seventh patients are Chinese working in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Guinea and Ethiopia. They arrived at the Shanghai airport on the same flight on September 29.

All the new patients have been transferred to a designated hospital for treatment, while 202 close contacts with them on the same planes have been put under quarantine and observation at designated places.

Meanwhile, five patients were discharged upon recovery, the commission said. So far, of all the 664 imported cases, 612 have been discharged upon recovery and 52 are still hospitalized.

Three imported suspected cases are undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported during the last 24 hours, according to the commission.

Of all the 342 local cases, 335 have been discharged upon recovery. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
