The city reported four new imported novel coronavirus cases on Thursday, while two patients were discharged upon recovery, said the Shanghai Health Commission on Friday morning.

The first new patient is an American whoarrived at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on September 21.

The second to the fourth cases are Chinese working in Gabon and Ethiopia who arrived at the Shanghai airport on the same flight on September 22.

All new patients have been transferred to the designated hospital for treatment, while 84 close contacts on the same planes have been put under quarantine and observation at designated places.

So far, of all the 639 imported cases, 593 have been discharged upon recovery and 46 are still hospitalized.

One imported suspected case is undergoing test.

No new locally transmitted or suspected cases were reported on Thursday, according to the commission.

Of all the 342 local cases, 335 have been discharged upon recovery. There have been so far seven local fatalities.

No asymptomatic infection cases are undergoing medical observation now, the health commission said.
