Schools prepare for start of online learning
From:Shine  |  2020-02-24 14:29

A trial class will be broadcast on Tuesday morning to make sure that all local primary and secondary students can start online learning at home from March 2, Shanghai Education Commission said.

The class will feature a doctor demonstrating correct protective measures against the coronavirus, a school principal instructing students to properly arrange their studies at home and a primary student showing her daily life during the epidemic.

Meanwhile, schools have received textbooks from publishers and are disinfecting, packaging and distributing them to students.

According to the commission, parents can collect the books from schools or ask schools to deliver the books to their homes. There are also digital versions.

At Minhang Experimental Primary School, teachers disinfected all books and sorted them into bundles over the weekend.

“We suggest parents choose express mail service to avoid the risk of cross infection on their way to the school and queuing up on campus,” said He Xuefeng, principal of the school. “Most of the parents of our over 6,000 students have chosen express mail service. Some who have not returned to Shanghai will use the digital versions. The books will arrive at students’ homes around Thursday.”

At Luwan No. 1 Primary School, most students at its campus in Huangpu District chose express mail while many at the campus in Jiading District chose to collect the textbooks from the school.
