The “Watches & Wander” exhibition, planned to be held in spring of this year in Geneva, is running in the Shanghai West Bund Art Center from September 9 to 13 due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, marking the first time that it has been held on the Chinese mainland.
Exquisite and luxury products from 11 global famed brands like Lange, Baume& Mercier, Cartier and Vacheron Constantin are being displayed, with 9 world and 4 Chinese debuts. One of the watches by Baume & Mercier making its global debut is even being sold on-site.
Chen Kaixun, chairman of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) in Asia, said that before the outbreak of the pandemic in China, it intended to hold a watch exhibition in Shanghai. The effective epidemic control and prevention in Shanghai has strengthened its determination to conduct the event here.
“China’s strict anti-epidemic measures have brought confidence to the recovery of the European mid-to-high-end watch industry chain,” said Chen. The smooth supply chain due to effective anti-epidemic measures and the strong purchasing power and ever-increasing appreciation of Chinese consumers are important factors that led to the exhibition coming to Shanghai.
