On August 18th, children from home and abroad experienced an amazing journey on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Yu Garden. The event was organized by a local TCM drugstore in order to let foreign friends understand the charisma of Chinese medicine and the wisdom of our ancestors.
Faced with curious kids, the attending physician Lai Xinwen shared some tips on how to cure diarrhea, insomnia and colds in summer with TCM methods. He also helped kids to know more about acupuncture points on our bodies. Following the guidance, the young children tried to press their own acupoints to get an actual feel. Meanwhile, they also learned to identify various medicinal materials and the function of each drug category at the scene.
At the end of the event, children made sachets filled with Chinese medicine together with the physician and were certified as a “little Chinese medicine pharmacist". Some parents said this event allowed them to get to more fully know TCM.
