ChinaJoy, the biggest mega gaming event in China, began on Friday at the Shanghai New International Expo Center in the Pudong New Area. Against the special backdrop of the epidemic, this year’s ChinaJoy has put forward anti-epidemic measures as well as an anti-epidemic contingency plan. The event also provides an online live platform for people who can’t come to Shanghai due to the outbreak.

The expo covers an area of around 130 thousand square meters. BTOC, the most popular exhibition area, has 9 pavilions in total. About 200 gaming giants including Tencent, NetEase, Blizzard, Ubisoft and Epic Games have joined in ChinaJoy, bringing more than 4,000 games and smart devices.

E-sports is the focus of this event. The 2020 Global Esports Conference, themed “For the future”, will be held during ChinaJoy. The conference is expected to announce a series of important measures to grow the e-sports industry.

Due to the impact of Covid-19, visitors have to scan their face, identification cards and health QR codes to enter the venue and they need to wear a mask all the time. Large gatherings are strictly forbidden. Besides, in case of necessity, the event is also equipped with medical devices.

To make up for the decrease in attendance this year, ChinaJoy partnered with 10 online platforms including TikTok, Kwai and WeSee, to launch a brand-new online service,ChinaJoy Plus, allowing fans to visit different companies’ pavilions, watch live performances and take part in various activities.
