Many of us are familiar with Yuyuan Road in the city’s Changning District. Recently, a story store was set up on the road to collect people’s stories and memories from the historic block.

In the store, which opened on August 15, people can write down on a card their own experiences of living or working on Yuyuan Road. A selection of 101 of the stories will be later compiled into a pocket storybook with cartoons or comic illustrations.
On the first day of its opening, over 130 citizens went in and shared their stories. They were passers-by, nearby shop owners and residents.
The store will be open through the end of October.
With a history of 101 years, Yuyuan Road has long been an attraction for expatriates in Shanghai, thanks to its traditional architecture and old-style buildings. It has undergone a series of facelifts over the past months, to turn itself into a fashionable, pleasant, and innovative place with a touch of the modern.
