From:Xinhua  |  2020-05-13 21:29

BEIJING, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Studying topped the list of online activities of Chinese minors in 2019, according to a report on internet use among minors released Wednesday.

When going online, about 89.6 percent of the respondents engaged in learning activities, while 65.9 percent and 61 percent listened to music and played games, respectively, figures from the report show.

The report, jointly issued by the department of safeguarding the rights and interests of the young people of the Chinese Communist Youth League Central Committee and the China Internet Network Information Center, was based on a survey that covered 34,661 primary and middle school students across the country aged between six and 18.

The research found minors' online learning was closely connected with their curriculum, including doing homework, reviewing classes and searching for further knowledge.

Chatting, watching videos and using social media were also among the frequent activities enjoyed by underage Chinese netizens.

The proportion of the respondents watching short videos and livestreams last year increased by 5.7 and 6.4 percentage points respectively from 2018, according to the report. Enditem
