Some of Tesla’s Model 3 vehicles that have been made in China are scheduled to be transported to Europe on October 27, being the first China-made Tesla vehicles to be sent to European countries like Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Switzerland.

Since the mature European market is known for its rigourous quality standards, the export of Model 3 means the product quality has been recognized by the European market, a landmark in Chinese new energy vehicle development.

Tesla previously said that the models produced by the Shanghai Super Factory would only be for the Asian market, but these exports to Europe show that the factory has achieved the first-stage of the Model 3 production ramp.

"After the production capacity has reached the first-stage goal, we are now providing high-quality products to European consumers while meeting the needs of Chinese ones. The export of China-made Tesla vehicles is an important step in Tesla's global layout," said Song Gang, director of manufacturing and operations, Tesla Shanghai.
